Copenhagen Property Market Report 2019
Future Airport Business Park
COPENHAGEN
Airside facilities at Copenhagen Airport command some of the highest logistics rents in Greater Copenhagen. Activity is brisk in the area, which already has a presence of large international airport-related businesses, including FedEx and DHL. In January 2019, the latter announced its plans to invest more than DKK 1bn in a new state-of-the-art automated logistics centre to handle more than 37,000 packages per hour, making it the largest investment by DHL in the Nordics. Copenhagen Airport currently plans to develop a more than 30-ha site into an Airport Business Park to accommodate distri- bution and logistics businesses. The vision is to make it a hub for distribution as well as an ideal location for e-commerce logis- tics centres. By the time the business centre is fully devel- oped, the scale of investment is expected to have run into DKK 2bn. However, the successful development of the Airport Business Park depends on whether or not it is possible to attract top-league businesses such as Amazon.
