Drones used for package delivery

Although it may sound as science fiction, drones that deliver packages may become a reality sooner than we think. In the USA, Walmar t has tested drone deliv ery of packages weighing less than 5 kg with great suc cess, with the grocery giant looking to expand its drone delivery services. In Denmark, PostNord has tested drone delivery on a 50-km stretch between its Køge mail distribution cen tre and a private home in Slagelse. The test took place in 2022 with new tests scheduled for H1 2023. Legislation is currently the overriding challenge in terms of unresolved questions such as where drones are to be allowed to fly and who is accountable in the event of accidents. So far, the transport and logistics industry, and property investors, too, are left to spec ulate what impact drones will have on properties and leases as well as on location. However, it seems fair to assume that it will pave the way for large-scale logis tics centres or hubs that do not necessarily need to enjoy city proximity as is currently the case with last mile delivery.
