Hotel - Colliers Market Report 2022

Hotel summary

The hotel segment is by far the property market segment to have been dealt the hardest blow by the coronacrisis. In 2021, the tide turned, with key per formance indicators picking up with the reopening of Danish society and the rollout of vaccines. Given the current favourable trend, we see prospects of tourism and business traveller numbers stabilising in 2023. Relief packages, reduced or deferred rental payments and adaptability have been factors helping the hotels pull through the thick of the crisis, and contrary to common expectations, the market has not been characterised by a wave of bankruptcies. International investor demand remains strong, with multiple significant transactions in Copenhagen confirming that activity is brisking up.
